ARC’s Director of Research Participates in American Nuclear Society Annual Meeting

This week, Applied Research Center’s Director of Research, Dr. Leonel Lagos, participated in the American Nuclear Society Annual meeting in San Antonio, TX. In addition, Dr. Lagos is an active member of ANS and ANS’ Executive Committee Robotics & Remote Systems Division (RRSD). In this capacity, Dr. Lagos serves as RRSD’s newly elected treasurer and contributes toward the advancement of robotic systems and technology for the nuclear industry. The Applied Research Center is currently supporting the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) in a number of remote system technology development efforts for application in DOE-EM’s environmental remediation mission. In addition, ARC has developed a Deactivation and Decommissioning (D&D) Knowledge Management Information Tool (KM-IT) containing technical information on over 1200 D&D technologies, including over 470 robotics/ remote systems with direct application to nuclear D&D activities.
