The Applied Research Center is pleased to highlight the achievement of one of our Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Fellows. Miss Silvia Vidaurre (Cyber Fellows Class of 2014) recently received the Peer Recognition for the Month of July at the 46th Test Squadron, which is part of the 96th Test Wing at Eglin, Air Force Base. Silvia is participating in a 10 weeks Cyber Security summer internship at Eglin AFB as part of a CyberSpace initiative between FIU’s Applied Research Center and DoD’s Test Resource Management Center (TRMC). As stated by DoD, “The 96th Test Wing Peer Recognition Program is designed to give military and civilian personnel at all levels the ability to recognize a deserving peer for actions that epitomize the Air Fore Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence In All We Do.”

Here is a portion of what her mentor wrote about Silvia:

“As one of our summer interns, Silvia quickly learned and picked up the skills of a security test engineer to effectively contribute to our flight’s mission. She has developed scripts to assist in automating manual processes that assess the security posture of a System Under Test. During a recent test event, the script she helped develop proved to be very useful in evaluating 23 systems…………………Her positive attitude and technical skills I believe deserves recognition for the peer award”
