Our Director of Research, Dr. Leo Lagos, conducted a very productive and successful meeting with representatives from the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) in Paris, France. During the meeting, he presented FIU’s capabilities in the areas of nuclear decommissioning, robotics, environmental remediation, radiochemistry, cyber security and materials/composite research. The topics of discussion included participation in international projects on nuclear decommissioning and environmental remediation, standards development and the organization of an international robotics working group. Representatives from the NEA included Ms. Gloria Kwong (Deputy Head of Division, Radioactive Waste Management) and Mr. Vladimir Lebedev (Radioactive Waste Management Administrator). The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is an intergovernmental agency that facilitates cooperation among countries with advanced nuclear technology infrastructures to seek excellence in nuclear safety, technology, science, environment, and law. The NEA, which is under the framework of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), is headquartered in Paris, France.
