Dr. William Tan is currently a Research Scientist at the Applied Research Center (ARC). He received his Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2014, focusing on collaborative robotic systems. He also has a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, developing path planner for mobile robotic systems. His research interests include intelligent and autonomous systems, robotics, multiagent multirobot systems, machine learning and autonomy. Dr. William Tan has been working with field robotic systems around the inland and costal water of Singapore, Boston, MA and Chesapeake Bay, MD for the past 7 years. He has expertise in robotic system design and development, field testings and deployments. He has also developed command and control systems for underwater, surface and aerial vehicles for the purpose of environmental sensing and monitoring. At ARC, he is responsible for developing robotic platforms for nuclear power plant monitoring and inspection, as well as exploring robotic solutions for the environmental sensing and monitoring in the Everglades, FL.
