From Dr. Aravelli…

Happy to share the news of graduating from FIU Presidential Leadership Program cohort 2022 and attending the graduation ceremony on Wednesday Nov 16, 2022. This is a highly commended opportunity at FIU, for faculty and administrative staff exploring and understanding the transition to leadership roles in academia. This program aided me to examine the challenges and gaps in higher education, particularly in FIU, from an executive perspective. It provided ample opportunity in networking with FIU colleagues from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, which is moderately possible on a regular basis. This will aid in expanding my horizon for multidisciplinary collaboration which is a key ingredient in the field of education. The sessions in the program also helped enhance my knowledge of the university’s storied history, as well as local Miami culture. I would like to contribute what I have learnt from the cohort to society. This would possibly comprise of better teaching techniques to increase student graduation rates, mentoring at all levels, providing career guidance to STEM students and post-doctoral fellows, and heightened research collaboration with team building, leading to new projects towards the growth of the Applied Research Center and the College of Engineering, thus impacting FIU in my current position.

Congratulations Aparna. Well done!!!
