Mechanics and Materials

The Mechanics and Materials group at ARC conducts research in a number of areas of engineering that spans across multiple disciplines including aerospace, energy, biomedical, marine, and nuclear.   Our group strives to assist federal agencies and industry partners in aspects related to both fundamental research and applied engineering.

Specific focus areas include the manufacturing, characterization and testing of advanced engineering materials.   Other aspects of fundamental research include computational modeling of composite materials.  Efforts in applied engineering focus on the design and analysis of a variety mechanical systems.  This includes aspects of both structural analysis and controls design.
